Shops in Phuket: Shopping Malls, Supermarkets, and the Best Places for Shopping
Shopping in Phuket isn't just about souvenirs and beachwear. On the island, you can buy literally everything: from branded clothing and cosmetics to home appliances, children's goods, fresh fruits, and imported alcohol. It's especially helpful to figure out in advance which shopping centers and stores are available in Phuket, as names can be easily confused, and some malls have already closed or relocated.
If this is your first time on the island and you want to know where best to buy groceries, clothes, medicines, and gifts to take home – this article will help you quickly get your bearings.
Phuket Shopping Malls: Where to Stroll, Eat, and Shop
In recent years, the number of shopping centers in Phuket has significantly increased. The island is actively developing, with new residential areas, hotels, restaurants, and, of course, new stores emerging. Therefore, large shopping and entertainment centers in Phuket are no longer a rarity, but a full-fledged part of the tourist infrastructure.
Jungceylon, Patong
Jungceylon was long considered Patong's main shopping center and the most popular shopping destination among tourists. Here you could find almost everything: banks and ATMs, clothing stores, souvenirs, cosmetics, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, fast food, furniture sections, a pet store, electronics, phones, a cinema, children's entertainment, and bowling.
Central Phuket, Phuket Town
Central Phuket is the largest shopping and entertainment center in Phuket. It is located in Phuket Town and consists of three buildings connected by walkways.
Its sections: Central Festival, Central Floresta, and Baan & Beyond.
In terms of offerings, it's a complete "city within a city": clothing and shoe stores, brand boutiques, cosmetics, electronics, restaurants, coffee shops, a food court, relaxation areas, a supermarket, and entertainment.
Central Floresta is particularly noteworthy: it houses the island's largest aquarium — Aquaria Phuket. This makes Central Phuket not only a place for shopping but also an excellent option for what to do in Phuket on a rainy day.

Central Patong, Patong
Central Patong was conceived as a younger sibling to Central Phuket and became a convenient shopping center in Patong for tourists. Inside, there are restaurants, cafes, clothing stores, and a grocery store. It is less popular than Central Phuket.

Premium Outlet Phuket
Premium Outlet used to be a good option for those who love discounts and sales. But now it's literally on the verge of closing, not all stores are operating. It's not an entertainment shopping center, but rather a discount store area. People often buy sportswear, shoes, and accessories here. There are also a few small toy and souvenir shops, but overall the assortment is quite limited.

Limelight Phuket, Phuket Town
Limelight is a small shopping center in the heart of Phuket Town, often underestimated by tourists. In reality, it's a convenient spot if you live in the city or are here for business.
Here you'll find the grocery store Tops Daily, several small retail outlets with clothing, cosmetics, and household items. Limelight also has cafes, restaurants, and a small food court.
An added bonus – children's development clubs and sections operate on the second floor. That's why Limelight is often chosen by families with children.

Porto de Phuket, Bang Tao
Porto de Phuket is a pleasant, compact shopping center in the Bang Tao area, popular among tourists staying in Laguna and its surroundings.
There are no giant halls like in Central, but the atmosphere is calm and cozy.
Porto de Phuket has shops, cafes, restaurants, and a convenient outdoor playground. It's a great place to combine a stroll with shopping.
Robinson in Phuket: Where is this shopping center now?
Many tourists remember Robinson in Phuket Town, but it's important to know: Robinson in Phuket Town closed long ago.
However, new Robinson shopping centers have now opened on the island in other areas:
Robinson Thalang
Robinson Thalang is located in the Thalang district, near the Heroines Monument. It's a convenient shopping center for those living in the northern part of the island or heading towards the airport, Bang Tao, and Nai Yang.
Here you can buy clothes, shoes, household goods, children's items, cosmetics, and also eat in cafes and restaurants. Robinson Thalang is considered one of the most in-demand shopping centers among locals.
Robinson Chalong
Robinson Chalong is another new shopping center that has become a real lifesaver for tourists and expats living in the Chalong, Rawai, and Nai Harn areas.
Now, residents of the south of the island don't need to go to Central Phuket for basic shopping. Robinson Chalong has clothing stores, household goods, cafes, restaurants, and supermarket infrastructure.

Supermarkets in Phuket: Where to Buy Groceries
When it comes to grocery stores in Phuket, tourists most often choose large chain supermarkets. It's convenient, safe, and straightforward: air conditioning, cleanliness, a wide selection, and stable prices.
Lotus’s (formerly Tesco Lotus)
Many still call these stores Tesco Lotus, but the chain is now officially called Lotus’s. This is one of Thailand's most popular supermarkets, similar in format to Auchan.
At Lotus’s, you can buy groceries, household chemicals, furniture, clothing, and electronics. ATMs, banks, food courts, small electronics stores, and mobile phone shops are usually located nearby.

Big C
Big C is Lotus’s main competitor, and in essence, it's very similar in format. Large Big C hypermarkets are located in various areas of Phuket, and tourists often choose them for stocking up on groceries, water, fruits, and household goods.

Makro
Makro is a wholesale store format where cafes, restaurants, and long-term residents of Phuket shop. It's cost-effective to buy water, cereals, meat, seafood, vegetables, and household items in bulk packages here.
Go Wholesale – Makro's New Competitor
In recent years, the Go Wholesale chain has appeared in Phuket, which many are already calling a direct competitor to Makro. This is also a wholesale type of store, designed for large purchases, but the assortment often differs, and prices for some items can be more favorable.
Go Wholesale is rapidly gaining popularity among locals and entrepreneurs. For tourists, it's a good option if you are renting a villa or apartment and want to stock up on groceries and drinks for a week.
Super Cheap
Super Cheap is the cheapest supermarket in Phuket, but its atmosphere isn't for everyone. It's often stuffy, crowded, noisy, and has long queues, especially on weekends. Tourists sometimes complain about the smell and the risk of encountering expired products.
The main Super Cheap is located in Phuket Town, near the bus terminal.
Among the advantages, many note the presence of a cheap pharmacy (usually the only air-conditioned section).

Mini-markets in Phuket: 7-Eleven and other convenience stores
If you're staying in a tourist area, you'll definitely visit small 24-hour stores.
7-Eleven is the most popular store in Phuket. It has drinks, snacks, food, SIM cards, household items, medicines, coffee, and even ready-to-eat meals that they'll heat for you at the counter.

Previously, there were many Family Marts in Phuket, but now the entire chain has rebranded to TOPs Daily.
There are also small Super Cheap 24 stores on the island, which resemble regular Super Cheap stores but are smaller in area. They often sell cheap fruits (though you need to choose carefully), drinks, and basic products.
A separate category is the small Thai shops on the ground floors of houses. These are family businesses where you can buy water, noodles, snacks, and household items. Sometimes prices are higher than at 7/11, but such stores can be helpful if you live far from large supermarkets.
Duty Free in Phuket: King Power
Duty-free shops in Phuket are not just the airport Duty Free. The island has one large King Power store, located in the Wichit area.
It sells branded goods, cosmetics, perfumes, alcohol, souvenirs, and accessories.
Purchases can be collected at international airports in Thailand, which is convenient for those who want to buy expensive items without duty.
Tourist Shops in Phuket: Should You Go There?
It's worth mentioning the shops that tourists visit during "free sightseeing tours". These are usually stalls selling latex products, pearls, tea, balms, souvenirs, and cosmetics.
Whether to buy there or not is up to you. But it's important to understand: most products from such stores can be found in supermarkets, shopping centers in Phuket, or at markets, often much cheaper.
Summary: Where to Shop in Phuket
If you want to combine shopping and entertainment, it's best to go to Central Phuket or Robinson Chalong/Thalang.
For everyday grocery shopping, tourists most often choose Big C, Lotus's, Makro, and now increasingly Go Wholesale.
Small convenience supermarkets are suitable if you need to buy a snack, a small item, or if you don't have access to a larger supermarket.
