Ao Yon Beach is one of the least popular beaches in Phuket. It is located on the east coast of the island, on Cape Panwa. This beach is rarely offered by travel agencies, there are no basic hotels of tour operators here. This beach consists of two parts - Ao Yon Noi and Ao Yon Yai.
Infrastructure:
On the shore of Ao Yon Noi is the Panwaburi beachfront resort. On Instagram it is called "the most unusual hotel in Thailand" and at the moment it is suitable for lovers of a beach holiday in the summer. But it is necessary to take into account that this section of the bay is distinguished by its pronounced low tides . Previously, during them, one could see the bottom strewn with glass and garbage. Now the beach has been cleaned, but it is better to choose the section of the beach to the left of the hotel - closer to the restaurant. The fact is that boats are parked near the bridge on the Ao Yon Noi beach and storm drains from the entire area are directed here - the so-called "stinky river" is located there. On weekends and in the evenings, you can see makashnitsy along the shore, which attract local residents. Therefore, cars and bikes are parked on the shore and it becomes quite noisy.
A large section of the bay or Ao Yon Yai beach is located in a lowland, so you won’t be able to park right on the beach. This is great – nothing prevents you from enjoying the beauty of nature. Along the road you can see shops, cafes, money changers and stalls with fruits and shakes. And on the beach shore there are Bandara Beach Resort and Bandara Beach Villas hotels. The only descent to the sea is near the Bandara Beach Resort and Flamingo Café. You can also see dive clubs there, rent a canoe or sup-board.
Who is it suitable for:
This beach is suitable for those who seek peace and quiet. It is suitable for a family holiday with children, as well as for a romantic trip. All the necessary infrastructure is on the beach - massage parlors, small supermarkets 7/11 and Tops, a few cafes and currency exchange offices (with a rate slightly worse than in most areas). You can also get to the markets of Phuket Town with virtually no traffic jams, since this area is not very popular among tourists. Nearby there are two observation decks - the Khao Kad tower and the Khao Kad observation deck (with a view of Chalong).
Holidays in the summer season:
In the summer season, this beach is perfect for a beach holiday, as there are never big waves in this bay. We highly recommend it for a holiday with small children. But be careful - at low tide the water goes quite far and you can meet stingrays (there are warning signs along the shore).
