Rain in Phuket: Entertainment for tourists and locals
Rain is a common occurrence in Phuket's tropical climate, but it shouldn't stop you from having fun. Here are some rainy-weather activities to try.
Shopping
Visit Phuket's shops and shopping malls, where you can have a good time and buy souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones. The largest shopping malls are Central Phuket (in Phuket Town), Robinson Lifestyle (in Chalong and Thalang), Central Patong, JungCeylon (in Patong). We recommend that you familiarize yourself with popular souvenirs in the article "What to bring from Thailand" before your trip.
Ice Arena ice rink
The only place on the island where you can skate is in the Koh Kaew area, near the Boat Laguna pier. Opening hours: Monday-Friday from 12:00 to 18:00, Saturday-Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00. Check the price on site. Skates, helmets and penguin supports for beginners are available for rent.
Cinemas
Most of the sessions are Asian films in Thai, but there are also foreign films and cartoons in English. In the winter of 2024, there were sessions in Russian of Russian films, but this is more the exception than the rule.
There are several cinemas in Phuket, they are located in shopping and entertainment centers - Central Phuket (Central Festival building), JungCeylon, Robinson LifeStile (Chalong and Thalang) and Coliseum (located in Phuket Town, in addition to the cinema there are only a couple of shops and cafes, but there is an old town nearby - you can also take a walk).
Be sure to bring warm clothes or a blanket, the halls are very well air-conditioned. It is very cool there even in the hottest weather.
Bowling and billiards
Yes, there really aren't many entertainments like this in Phuket. You can find them by searching on Google Maps. I won't give you exact locations, because you need to look at the current information on the opening hours of each of them. It's better to choose for yourself based on reviews and location.
Trampoline centers
No special training is required for this entertainment, but you need to take care of sportswear. There are also age restrictions (from 5 years) and health restrictions. Trampolines are contraindicated for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, pregnancy and exacerbation of chronic diseases. There are two trampoline centers in Phuket, one of them is located near Bang Tao (Adventure Village Phuket), the second in Phuket Town (Big C). For children, there are trampolines in the closed Froggies play area in the JungCeylon shopping center . Check the cost of visiting on site.
Ceramics studio
This is a great entertainment for adults and children. It is located in Phuket Town, you can find it on maps by the name Sitao Studio. The cost is from 250 baht, the duration is about 1.5 hours. You do everything yourself under the careful guidance of specialists, leave the souvenir for firing and pick it up in about 1-4 weeks (the period depends on the workload). If you are in Phuket for a short time, you can prove delivery by mail directly to your home.
The Upside Down House of Baan Teelanka
A unique experience in Phuket Town where you can explore an upside down house and go through a maze. Suitable for those who love unusual photos.
Target Phuket Archery Club Archery Range
A great place for a family holiday to try your hand at archery. Prices start from 400 baht per hour, including all necessary equipment.
The instructors speak good English and will give you the necessary instructions.
Oceanariums
Visit local aquariums to see a variety of marine life. There are two aquariums in Phuket: one on the east coast of the island at Cape Panwa, and the other in the Central Phuket (Central Floresta) shopping mall. Ticket prices and show schedules can be found in the Aquaria section.
Water park
And why not, because you'll get wet anyway. If the rains are not cold and not prolonged, then periodic precipitation will not prevent you from having fun in the Andamanda water park. The cost for pre-booking in our agency is lower than at the entrance and there are pleasant bonuses.
Massage and SPA
Enjoy Thai massages and spa treatments at one of the many salons on the island. Before choosing a salon, I recommend reading our guide "Thai massage and how to choose a massage salon in Phuket".
Museums and cultural centers
Explore local museums and cultural centers to delve into Phuket's history and traditions. You can find them using Google Maps and choose the one that interests you.
Evening shows
Attend various evening shows to experience Thai culture and enjoy performances by artists.
You can read their description, see the cost, and see photos in the Evening Shows section.
Excursions
If the rain is short-lived and not accompanied by a storm, then you can safely go to the islands - because the weather there may be better. Diving is also a great option, because precipitation is not scary under water. No special experience is required for this, our Russian-speaking instructors will help you enjoy diving and watch the inhabitants of the Andaman Sea.
If the sea is stormy, bus excursions to the mainland are available: national parks and rafting . A raincoat will help you not to get wet, and the jungle will amaze you with its beauty even on a cloudy and rainy day.
So, there are plenty of rainy weather activities in Phuket that will allow you to enjoy your holiday to the fullest, no matter the weather conditions. Also, with an International Driving Permit, you can rent a car from us to move freely around Phuket Island.
