The Rock Islands: A Snorkeling and Secluded Paradise
The Koh Rok Islands are a picturesque archipelago in Trang Province, consisting of two islands: Koh Rok Nai and Koh Rok Nok. They are located approximately 30 km from Koh Lanta and are only 250 meters apart. Both islands are nearly equal in size and are surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of the Andaman Sea.

The Rok Islands are rightfully considered some of the best spots in Thailand for snorkeling and diving. Coral reefs here extend almost from the shore, and the underwater world is strikingly diverse: tropical fish, corals of various shapes and colors, and clear water with excellent visibility.
Beaches and recreation features
During low tide the water recedes quite far, so the Rock Islands are most comfortable for a beach holiday. during high tide. The beaches here are wild and untouched—without sun loungers, bars, or water sports. This is a place for those who appreciate nature, silence, and a sense of solitude.
The islands are uninhabited, but they are part of Mu Koh Lanta National Park. Previously, overnight stays in tents and simple cabins were available on Rok Nok Island, along with a small hotel. Since the pandemic, it has not resumed normal operations, so we currently do not offer two-day programs in this area. Even if such an opportunity arises, it's worth keeping in mind that the accommodations here are very basic, and the sounds of the jungle at night may be unusual for many.

Nature and wildlife
The Rock Islands have no traditional tourist attractions—people come here not for the architecture, but for the natural beauty. Wild monitor lizards, flying foxes, and a variety of birds and insects can be found in the jungle. This is a completely natural area, not adapted for mass tourism.
If you wish, you can climb to the observation deck on Rok Nok Island, but be aware that the stairs are in poor condition. The climb passes through jungle and requires good physical fitness. Mosquito repellent is also highly recommended.
When are the Rock Islands closed?
The Rock Islands are closed to visitors from early May to early November . During this period, the seas are very rough, and the national park completely restricts tourist access.
How to get to the Rock Islands
A self-guided itinerary is as follows: from Phuket, travel to Koh Lanta (by ferry or speedboat), and then rent a speedboat from there. Longtail boats don't go to the Rok Islands due to the distance from the piers.
The most convenient and popular option is an organized excursion from Phuket on a speedboat or motor catamaran. The program often also includes a visit to the Koh Haa Islands, which are especially prized by snorkelers for their vibrant underwater world.

Who is this tour suitable for?
Given the Rok Islands' distance from Phuket and the long travel time, this tour is not recommended for travelers with small children. However, it is ideal for those who have already visited popular destinations and are looking to discover something new, wilder, and more authentic.
We also remind you that speedboat excursions are prohibited for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, as well as for those with musculoskeletal disorders or exacerbations of chronic diseases.
