Kata Beach
Kata Beach is one of the popular beaches in Phuket. It is located on the west coast in the southern part of the island. It is known for its gentle entry into the sea, well-developed infrastructure and clean water in the sea. The length of Kata Beach is about 1.5 kilometers. During low tide, swimming on this beach is possible, although you will have to walk several hundred meters to the depth. During high tide, the beach strip shortens, but the entry into the sea remains gentle. There is natural shade from the trees along the coast.
Who is it suitable for:
Thanks to its cozy atmosphere, it is suitable for both a quiet family holiday and an active youth holiday. The gentle entrance to the sea and hotels with green areas make this beach attractive for families with small children. Kata Beach is not suitable for those who need a developed nightlife within walking distance.
Infrastructure:
On the beach itself, you can rent sun loungers with umbrellas, jet skis or surfboards. Near the beach line, you can find a small number of makashnitsa and shops with essential goods. Most hotels are located on the second line from the beach, as the Club Med Phuket hotel is located on the shore. If you need access to the sea directly from the hotel, then consider Beyond Kata Resort in the southern part of the beach. Also in the southern part of Kata there is a small public park with jogging paths, outdoor exercise machines and a playground. In the Kata Beach area, there are many different cafes, restaurants, massage parlors, shops. There are small local markets, the most popular is located in the northern part of the beach near the Beach Heights hotel and is open daily from 14.00 to 23.00. In the evening, bars open in this area, but there are no clubs and discos. For them, it is better to go to Patong Beach.
Holidays in the summer season:
From May to mid-October, beach holidays on Kata Beach may be limited due to waves. Swimming areas are marked with red and yellow flags and are located in the northern part of the beach. The southern part of the beach is suitable for surfing in the summer. On stormy days, lifeguards put up red flags on the shore, which means that swimming is strictly prohibited.
