Karon Beach
Karon Beach is a very popular beach in Phuket. It is located on the west coast in the southern part of the island. Karon can rightfully be considered one of the longest on the island - about 5 km of beach line. It is located south of Patong Beach and north of Kata Beach . This beach is famous for its "singing" sand. It creaks like snow due to the quartz in its composition. In the evenings on Karon you can see a bright natural light show called sunset, which is why not only tourists but also locals come here.
Who is it suitable for:
This beach is suitable for both active travelers and for a quiet family or romantic holiday. There are many hotels on Karon, but only two are on the shore - Centara Grand Beach Resort (in the northern part) and Karon Beyond (in the southern part). The rest of the hotels are located across the road or on the second line. Also on the second and third lines from the sea you can find modern condominiums with excellent sea views.
Infrastructure:
This area has a fairly well-developed infrastructure. On the beach you can rent sun loungers, jet skis, surfboards. Here you will find shops, cafes and restaurants, massage parlors, currency exchange offices and bank branches (on the second line). Also closer to Kata Beach there is a large chain supermarket Makro. The evening market is open near the Wat Karon temple on Tuesdays and Fridays from 17.00 to 22.30. Nightlife on Karon is not developed, there are small bars, but there are no discos and clubs. In the northern part of the beach there are outdoor exercise machines, a small lake with running tracks, and in the central part you can see volleyball nets and exercise machines. Also, this beach differs from others by the promenade along the sea, where you can walk or jog.
Holidays in the summer season:
Unfortunately, this beach is absolutely not suitable for a beach holiday in the summer season. Swimming is impossible here because of the waves and most often lifeguards put up red flags indicating danger. In addition, it is here that you can see rip currents or "pull-outs", which annually take the lives of tourists who ignore the warnings of lifeguards. We categorically do not recommend swimming on this beach in the summer, even for experienced swimmers.
